Saran, Bihar: A Glimpse into its Rich History and Significance

Saran district, with its administrative headquarters in Chhapra, is a historically significant region located in the western part of Bihar, bordering Uttar Pradesh. The district, which once included parts of present-day Gopalganj and Siwan, has been an important political, economic, and cultural center for millennia.

The history of Saran dates back to ancient times, with archaeological findings suggesting continuous human habitation. It was part of the ancient Kosala Mahajanapada and later came under the influence of powerful empires such as the Mauryas, Guptas, and the Pala dynasty.
